New Labour: Jobless..? Try Lapdancing!

Posted by charliegrrl on August 24, 2006

New Labour like to push unemployed people into jobs they don’t want to do…
But when an unemployed woman went into her local JobCentre office, she didn’t imagine they would suggest she try lap-dancing!

Is this New Labour’s new strategy to combat poverty..? They can’t provide people with decent employment, so they suggest sex work..?!?

Equal Ops! Equal Ops! Equal Ops!

Are the JobCentre suggesting the same thing to unemployed men too? Does the employer who’s advbertising with them have exemption under the sex discrimination act? If so, why? If not, are they sending unemployed men to the same vacancy?

Law breakers! Law breakers! Law breakers!

*that’s the noise of the feminist police force*

  2. I have just had a comment on my pole dancing post concentrating not on the ethics of the dancing but that we do not know what we are talking about due to the physical fitness it requires

    New Labour, Old Exploitation

10 years of New Labour has given us more strip joints, and wall-to-wall porn in any corner store.

Yep, I’ll definitely do the cross-country trek to Manchester for the Demo (the PimpCentre Plus mentioned in the article is Stormy’s local turf).

For anyone who wishes to verify the ‘job’ mentioned:

If they want David Cameron in power those Tories: just blow this article up on a bloody big billboard and the feminist, women’s rights sector of the public will soon desert Blair.

How shocking! How is it that Ann Summers are not allowed to advertise in the job centre because basically they are considered as smutty, seedy and not of a high enough standard of social acceptablity, but stimulating sex around a pole is OK?

Double standards once again, me thinks.

  5. Ann Summers are now allowed to advertise in job centres

    Ann Summers shops

General policy of the Department of Employment is for JobCentres not to advertise sex-related jobs. On that basis it refused to accept job ads which the Ann Summers chain of over 80 shops wished to place. The Ann Summers chain appealed to the HIgh Court against this refusal and won on the basis that the refusal was “irrational and unlawful (except in respect on one store which was licensed as a “sex shop”) – R ( on the application of Ann Summers Ltd) v JobCentre Plus [2003] EWHC 1416 (Admin) – see for example BBC News Story re Anne Summers Ltd case, [2003] EWHC 1416 (Admin) 16th May 2003).

  6. Labour are using every trick in the book to hide the real unemployment figures. Lap-dancing can’t be shipped to China or India so they are probably targeting it as a growth area. Government incentives to set up lap-dancing academy’s are probably only a white paper away. The national curriculum will probably include a sex industry component within a few years.

And the latest news from Scotland, where their own PimpCentrePlus’es are up for exploiting young women:
