Yeah, the tunes were catchy – I wonder if I also ‘see’ them on placards and stickers?

Hey! Yep I’m still singing in my head (the ‘hey, ho, sexual violence has got to go’ one particularly!)!

Can’t make the demo but I’ll be there in spirit 🙂

    I signed!

I just wanted to let you know that I made a boycott playboy bebo band so that people can join, but I only focused on playboy since there are so many children on that site with playboy bunny logos smothered all over their profiles. It’s also against all those lad’s mags and porn in general, and I wanted to let you know that I used a few of the pictures from your blog, of the activism and protests etc. I hope that is okay, and if not I’ll take them down.

  6. Hey, what is this bebo thing..? I’m unfamiliar with it, is it like myspace. I’ve checked out the photos, I like the playboy bunny photo, and the one saying ‘I want YOU to consume pornography!’

Peta, the animal rights group, always use women’s bodies as sex objects to promote their cause. Say for example, using naked women to promote their no-fur campaiagn. I’m vegan, so I’m well into animal rights, but I don’t like Peta’s sexist campaigns to get attention. They should have pictures of animals being slaughtered, instead of playing the game which it comes to being seeking media attention.

Yeah Bebo is basically Myspace with less features and less customisable options. They don’t have “groups”, only bands but a lot of people just make “band” accounts for things such as anti-Nazism etc so that people can join. So I thought I would make my own. They do however have groups for different schools (the main reason I even joined Bebo was to catch up with old school friends) and on my old primary school page there are SO many young girls with the playboy logo as their main profile pic, and with it smothered all over their profiles.

I even went on to one girl’s page and she had a video which was a slideshow of about 100 different images of the playboy bunny, in different colours, backgrounds etc. It also had random images of those little blonde pixellated dolls that seem to be plaging the net, also sporting playboy bunny attire and with slogans like “playmate” etc. It even had a few random flashes of real playboy models!! Propaganda at its most horribly blatant.. I couldn’t believe it. She took the video down, otherwise I would show you it. I don’t think she could have been any older than 11.

And yes, I didn’t even know about those PETA campaigns until I saw that image on nostatusquo.com. It’s really quite pathetic that we can’t seem to get away from women’s bodies being used for advertising, even in the places where you wouldn’t really expect it!

  8. I am very disappointed in PETA as are some of my friends who are AR activists
